Roaming

For wireless operators to offer ubiquitous roaming coverage to its customers, they must negotiate direct or indirect business arrangements with other wireless operators. Often it is more economically feasible for smaller operators to utilize the service of a clearinghouse to manage these agreements rather than negotiating numerous bi-lateral agreements.

The clearinghouse, sometimes referred to a Roaming Broker, offers an operator the simplicity of negotiating a single roaming agreement. The broker becomes the central point for managing an operators subscribers and their ability to roam between operators.

SEGway™ Roaming Broker is ideal for carriers who are looking to offer broker services to other wireless providers. Based on the GSMA Open Connectivity Roaming Model, Roaming Broker can dynamically and transparently create new E164 numbers and virtual Home Location and Visiting Location Register (HLR/VLR) addresses. In this way, the Roaming Broker can masquerade where the messages are originating thus allowing the roaming subscriber to operate under the negotiated roaming agreement of the clearinghouse carrier.
